Meditation & Satsang with Dick Stewart @ Neskaya Movement Arts Center

A brief autobiography from Dick Stewart:

Beginning in the early 1970’s I was introduced to and read extensively the writings of the mystic Gurdjieff, Ram Das, Yogananda, Lao Tsu, Osho, Rumi, and many others. In 1977 I learned Transcendental Meditation followed by 8 weeks of advanced training. I meditated regularly for about 8 years but this practice slacked off as demands of family and business required more attention. Life changes, beginning in 1992, allowed the resumption of following my spiritual interests and I renewed meditation, reading, and soul-searching. In the late 1990’s I met my first Sufi teacher, Kabir Helminski, and studied under him for the next 2 or 3 years. In that same time frame, I also was initiated into the Sufi Order of the West (now the Inayati Order) by Pir Vilayat Inayat Kahn. It was also during this time period that I began attending a Zen sangha and also began studies in the Diamond Approach school. The early 2000’s introduced me to another Sufi teacher, Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, who I followed for 8 years as well as a continuation of the Diamond Approach teachings that continued until 2011.

It was by chance or synchronicity, that via my Sufi association I was introduced to Pamela Wilson a teacher connected to the nondual (Advaita Vedanta) tradition represented by the renown Indian master Ramana Maharshi. Over a few short years I developed a deep love, respect, and devotion to Pamela and at her request in 2008, I began the weekly meetings now known as Eaton Satsang. This commitment provided the impetus for continuing study and exploration that has involved many weeks of retreats with numerous teachers including Hameed Ali (A.H. Almaas), Jac O’Keeffe, Gangaji, Miranda Macpherson and several others. YouTube has offered the possibility of experiencing the perspectives of other teachers worldwide.
