Ritual Party to Celebrate
Sunday, February 3, 2019
2:30 – 3:30 pm
Winter will soon be on its way – so let’s celebrate! The days are getting longer, and the ground will soon be soft enough for planting. Please join us for our first Ritual Party of 2019. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Our ritual parties will follow the Sacred Year, which is based on the annual cycle of the Sun and Moon, starting with Imbolc. Imbolc is a Cross-Quarter Day, halfway between Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox and marks the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere. Imbolc, also known as St. Brigid’s Day or Candlemas, originated as a Gaelic festival celebrating the “Quickening” of the year when the weather starts to warm, and the frozen ground begins to thaw so that the seeds underneath can start to grow.
To observe this holiday, we are introducing the ritual of seed planting, which includes writing down our intentions and wishes for the new year and then planning them along with a seed. We’ll also light candles, dance with shadows on the walls, and hear a story about groundhog – all to welcome in the Spring!
This party is for all ages. We invite you to stay for one or all the festivities. Our Sunday Circle Dance follows starting at 3:30 pm, which will include dances to celebrate this time of the year. All dances are taught. No experience needed.
Suggested donation is $1 – $15
